Abstract: Nanostructured materials are the entities that appear between molecular/isolated atom and extended solids. Recent research on luminescent nanomaterials provide challenges to both fundamental and advanced development of technologies in various areas such as electronics, photonics, display, lasing, detection, optical amplification, fluorescent sensing in biomedical engineering, environmental control, etc. Nanophosphors may have a number of potential advantages over traditional micron-sized phosphors. Such nanosize phosphor particles are reported to be somewhat different in their electrical, optical and structural characteristics. Further, the differences in electrical and optical characteristics of small sized particles may cause quantum confinement due to high surface to volume ratio, which results in enhancement of their luminescence efficiency. Therefore, synthesis routes play an important role in synthesizing the nanomaterials and determining various properties. newline
