Abstract

Delay Tolerant Networks DTNs fall into a special category of newlineMobile Ad hoc Networks MANETs where a complete path from source to newlinedestination does not exist Therefore traditional TCPIP or MANET routing newlinetechniques which operate with the assumption of existence of end to end path newlinealways cannot be directly adopted in DTNs This leads to the development of newlinenew protocols and algorithms for communication in Delay Tolerant newlineNetworks DTNs work on the principle of store carry and forward According newlineto this principle a node may store a message in its buffer and carry it along newlinefor long period of time until it can forward it further newlineComprehensive study of different routing mechanism is essential to newlineunderstand the design of DTNs Therefore various routing protocols of DTN are newlinestudied compared and analyzed under different scenarios based on the metrics like newlinedelivery ratio delivery latency and overhead ratio In addition as the research newlinework focuses on buffer management an additional metric of buffer utilization and newlinethe impact of buffer size on performance is also scrutinized newline
