On Load Balancing Mechanisms with Gridsim

Abstract

In the quest for higher and higher level performance, the Grid computing systems with higher efficiency and lower execution time are being planned. With greater reliance on Grid computing in a variety of applications, the consequences of overloading resources have become more severe. Therefore, to properly access the suitability of a Grid computing system, design of new load balancing mechanisms appears to be quite important. The GridSim is a widely used Grid simulation tool. Many existing load balancing mechanisms of Grid cannot be applied in GridSim due to the differences in their frameworks. newline The objective of this Thesis is to study and compare different load balancing mechanisms on GridSim on a common platform under similar assumptions. The study has required modifications of the existing mechanisms and development of some new ones, in a manner suitable to obtain the required results in a simpler and computationally more efficient manner. The GridSim is introduced in Chapter 1. Chapter 2-5 are contributory in nature and devoted to the designing and analysis of different load balancing mechanisms on GridSim. All these four Chapters are supported with results obtained through extensive simulations. Finally, the Chapter 6 presents the conclusion. newline
