It is our nation biggest newlinestrength in protecting India sovereignty and integrity since independence, through its newlineinvolvement in a number of wars and conflicts. The Armed Forces operate in a newlinedynamic environment, which presents several challenges to its servicemen. As the newlineArmed Forces are becoming more and more complex in terms of technology and newlineoperations, the amount of stress faced by the personnel is also increasing. The newlinechanging scenarios in the country along with the environmental and operational newlinecommitments together have put enormous demands for adjustment on the uniformed newlineservices. There are various aspects of military life, which are taken for granted but newlinemay negatively affect the psychological health of military personnel. The Indian newlineArmed Forces were having numerous man-management problems, ranging from newlinesuicide cases to shortage of officers. Long-term stress faced by individuals can result newlineinto feelings of anger, anxiety, fatigue, depression and sleep problems. In extreme newlinecases, prolonged exposure to severe stressors can lead to post-traumatic stress newlinedisorder (PTSD), which is the most common stress-related mental disorder among newlinemilitary personnel. Among these problems, the most alarming is the manifestation of newlinestress in the form of suicides, fratricide and other such aberrations. The Indian Armed newlineForces are even though trained its personnel for tough jobs, but they are no exception to newlinethis stress menace and sufferings since last few decades. On an average, the Army is newlinelosing more than 100 soldiers per year to suicide. It is important for the Armed forces newlineto manage the stress levels of soldiers effectively, so as to keep them ready both newlinephysically and mentally to undertake any task to protect our country. newlineStress has become an integral part of our modernized liveshood.
