Abstract: Relying on the fact that environmental laws have not been able to imbibe in man the true spirit of environment protection and buoyed by a certain limit of failure that one can attach to existing environmental laws, the researcher aims to create a new jurisprudence by advocating for Rights of Nature. What is aimed is the creation of a blue print for a new set of rights which has found expression in some of the legal systems around the world. The research also looks into the different ways and methods in which cultural and traditional tenets which foster environment protection can be internalised into law. The ultimate aim is to create a change in the anthropocentric approach that the environmental legal regime has presently and foster the growth of an ecocentric approach. newline
