Abstract: | Welding process intends to provide a permanent joint yet this process newlineinfluences the metallurgical aspects of the welds. During the welding process, because newlineof high heat input, area closes to the weld experiences serious thermal cycles, in this newlineway generating non homogeneous plastic deformation in the weldment. Because of newlinethis, weld joint quality is decreased. Hence, vibratory weld conditioning applied newlineduring welding is suggested to enhance weld joint mechanical properties. newlineThis work presents the influence of vibration frequency and time period of newlinevibration on mechanical properties of welded joints fabricated with dissimilar TIG newline(Tungsten Inert Gas) vibratory welding operation. In this investigation, new vibratory newlineequipment setup is fabricated for producing vibrations during welding operation. The newlinedesigned vibratory equipment setup impels vibrations by two metal engravers to the newlinespecimens at which they are ready for welding operation. Metal engravers have been newlineworked by electro-dynamic force principle, which transforms electric signals in to newlinecorrespondent mechanical vibrations. Metal engravers are capable to produce newlinedifferent frequencies of specimens by adjusting the knob provided on the metal newlineengravers. In the current exploration, weld joint specimens are produced with the newlinevariation of two input parameters: frequency and time period of vibration. Later, newlinemicrostructure analysis has been carried out to find the grain size at the weld bead for newlineunderstanding the influence of frequency effect on mechanical properties of welded newlinejoints. Also, SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope) analysis has been done to know newlinethe filler metal distribution at the weld bead to understand the reason for improvement newlineof mechanical properties of weldments. newline |
