Abstract: | The reliable and uninterrupted operation of a modern power system newlinedepends on the satisfactory performance of insulators Insulators are among newlinethe key devices of the electric power transmission systems They are used to newlinesupport and separate conductors at high voltage The main problem that newlineendangers the reliability of an electric power system is the flashover of newlinepolluted insulator An insulator is subjected to the laminar flow on the newlinewindward side high speed eddies on the vortex sheets on either side and the newlineslow moving eddies in the wake make a characteristic contribution to the newlinedeposition of pollutants on the surface of the insulator newlineThe overall objective of this thesis is to study flashover newlinephenomenon of the polluted insulators on full scale These studies deal with newlinemany aspects which include the field observations extensive laboratory newlineexperiments and computational analysis on the performance of insulators newline newline |
