Abstract: | Catalytic processes contribute over 80 to 90 of chemical newlinemanufacturing of which more than 20 of the products are important for newlineproducing high volume bulk chemicals speciality fine chemicals and newlinepharmaceuticals The use of heterogeneous catalysts is highly desirable for newlinecompliance with the principles of green chemistry offering low energy routes newlineto products eliminating the requirement of auxiliary species and facilitating newlinecatalyst recovery to minimise waste generation The use of porous solid acids newlineas heterogeneous catalyst is gaining importance in different areas of organic newlinesynthesis due to their environmental compatibility combined with good yield newlineand selectivity newlineThe molecular sieve catalysis has been considerably extended by newlinethe discovery of various mesoporous materials The use of mesoporous newlinesupports is advanced to minimise diffusion limitation Significant newlineenhancement inpore accessibility is achieved by the use of KIT6 cage type newlinemesopores and SBA15 hexagonal mesopores Further immobilization of newlinetransition metal complexes impregnation of transition metal oxide and newlineincorporation of transition metals in mesoporous materials extend their newlinecatalytic applications The present work focused on the synthesis newlinemodification characterization and catalytic evaluation of CoSKIT6 newlineSBA15 supported CoO MnTiSBA15 and CoSBA15 newlineThe immobilization of CoSalen complex on KIT6 was achieved newlineby post synthetic grafting method The synthesised materials CoSKIT6 newlinewere characterised by small angle XRD FTIR DRSUVVis thermal newlineanalysis N sorption ESR SEM and TEM The physicochemical newlinecharacterization results revealed that CoSalem complex was immobilised newlineinside the pores The catalytic activity of CoSKIT6 was tested in the liquid newlinephase epoxidation of olefins using HO as the oxidant The reaction newlineparameters such as catalyst amount reaction temperature solvent and reaction newlinetime on the catalytic activity of CoSKIT6 was correlated with newlinephysicochemical characterisation newline newline |
