Nanomaterials have been the subject of intense research in recent newlineyears The interest is because of the unusual properties exhibited and new newlinescience generated by them A number of techniques physical chemical and newlinebiological have been developed for preparing these materials Phytochemical newlinemethod was adopted to synthesise the nanocrystalline metal oxides for newlinehumidity sensing applications Due to the different physical and chemical newlineproperties of nanomaterials compared to the bulk the semiconducting nano newlinemetal oxides exihibit wide range of applications and their specific roles in newlinegas and humidity sensor adsorption separation catalysis drug delivery newlinephotonics and nanodevices newlineThe present study focuses on the preparation characterization and newlinehumidity sensing performance of biocomposite HS doped semiconducting newlinenanocrystalline metal oxides M Sn Co Cu Ni Zn and Mg Hygrophila newlinespinosa T Anders plants seeds HST possessing gelling behaviour with newlinemineral content has been chosen as a dopant in the metal oxides newlineNanocrystalline tin oxide SO was synthesized following green newlinemethod avoiding the use of organic solvents that are harmful to be toxic newlineInstead only the aqueous water is used throughout the preparation process newlineThe phase formation and doping effect of HS on SO was confirmed by the newlinediffraction peaks and peak intensity respectively obtained in the XRD newlinepatterns Among five different weight ratio the 05 wt of HST dopant newlineinfluenced to achieve better sensitivity compared to pure SnO pristine HS newlineand other HST doped SnO due to higher specific surface area small particle newlinesize and high porosity which was confirmed by the instrumental methods newlineThe sensitivity factor S response and recovery time for the sample SH2 newlineMP HST 0505 was found to be 4083 22 95 2 s and 137 3 s newlinerespectively The good linearity reproducibility and stability obtained suggest newlinethat the sample SH2 as a good humidity sensor Photoconductivity studies newlinewere carried out for all the samples newline newlineen_US
