In this study the treatment efficiency of tannery wastewater by newlineadvanced oxidation process using various catalysts was evaluated with the newlinehelp of COD removal efficiency The catalysts used in this study are of two newlineforms homogeneous catalyst and heterogeneous catalyst The Fe2solution newlineFe2Cu2equimolar solutions are used as homogeneous catalyst and iron newlinepowder copper coated iron powder are used as heterogeneous catalyst The newlineH2O2 is used as an oxidizing agent throughout this study The experiments newlinewere conducted with different molar ratios and the COD reduction of each newlineexperiment was identified In order to enhance the reaction kinetics the UV newlineirradiation was also employed For comparison of the treatment efficiency the newlineinitial experiments were conducted with UASBR and activated carbon newlineadsorption and the percentage of COD reduction was found as 835 and 689 newlinerespectively The oxidation of the effluent using H2O2sunlight without the newlinepresence of catalyst shows 276 of COD reduction newline newline
