Abstract: The Thesis Chemical investigation of Toxic plants of the Valley was started at Kashmir University under a programme for investigation of the toxic plants of the valley and its environment Corydalis labellata Edgew was collected from Ladakh because other Corydalis species have yielded interesting alkaloids and no work had yet been reported on this particular species newlineFurther it is said to be used as herbal medicine in the native Amchi System of Medicine Because of the difficult terrain where it is found collection was difficult and was made in three trips to Ladakh for newlinethis purpose The plant was extracted and worked partly at Kashmir University and partly at Aligarh Muslim The thesis represent a variety of structural newlinevariations including phthalideisoquinoline benzphenan thredine spirobenzylisoquinoline and benzazepine The spectral features of the alkaloids on which the identification or structural proposals mainly relay newlineare discussed in detail and the key spectra are reproduced newline
