Abstract: The present work was initiated with the aim to study the phenomena of dissolution and precipitation potentials in the nonaqueous solvents which cover a wide range of dielectric constants and have varying degrees of solvating ability The dissolution phase and apparent diffusion potantials of chlorides bromides and iodides of sodium potassium and ammomium have been investigated in methanol ethanol water mixtures of different composites However the precipitation potentials were studied only for KCI KBr and KI in ethanol A thermodynamic model of the precipitation potential has also been worked out Signs of both the true dissolution potential and the true precipitation potential has been explained on the basis of solvation mechanism
