Abstract: | In recent years, cancer and infectious diseases have been regarded prevalent modern world newlineafflictions. However, significant number of drugs have been invented against them and newlineextensive research is being carried out to achieve more efficient and cost effective drugs newlinewith minimal or no side effects. A rise in the drug resistant infective agents and tunours has led to a hunt for alternate drug like molecules. One such class of emulating candidates is N newlineheterocyclic carbene (NHC) complexes of late transition metals. NHCs are regarded as highly versatile species as their preparation, newlinefunctionalization and coordination is comparably easy. Also, in the recent decade, they have newlinebeen complexed with almost every transition metal in distinct oxidation states augmenting newlinetheir structural diversification, eventually leading to futuristic applications. they have an an exemplary stability and the resulting features are newlineimmensely favourable for the design and synthesis of pharmaceutically and catalytically active compounds. Similar to the need for an alternate remedy against cancers, the surge of drug resistant newlinemicrobes too need scrutiny. Both the hurdles can be dealt with design and development of newlineNHC silver(I) complexes as drug molecules. With negligible toxicity of silver and secure newlinestability of NHC ligands, this category possesses a beaming prospect. Therefore, combining the medicinal relevance of silver and newlinestability of NHCs, one can generate an excellent drug candidate resulting from the newlinesynergistic effects of the right choice of N heterocyclic core, the wingtip substitutions and newlinethe metal center. Along with the growing popularity of their antibacterial property, silver(I) newlinecomplexes of NHCs have gained considerable attention as efficient anticancer drug newlinecandidates against numerous human derived cancer cells newline |
