Abstract: | The present study is undertaken to evaluate the phytochemicals and to isolate the bioactive compounds from Alpinia purpurata and to check for their anti prostate cancer potential by in vivo, in vitro and in silico approach. The medicinal plant of Alpinia purpurata (ethyl acetate extract) posseses 32 compounds were identified by GC-MS analysis.The medicinal plant of Alpinia purpurata (ethyl acetate extract) posseses 32 compounds were identified by GC-MS analysis. After the induction of prostate cancer, biochemical parameters such as total protein, enzymatic and non enzymatic antioxidants, membrane bound enzymes were decreased whereas LPO, tumor markers, nucleic acid constituents were increased in prostate gland and seminal vesicle tissues. The hematological, lipid parameters were altered and prostate markers, renal markers and liver markers were increased in serum. With chromatographic and spectroscopic techniques, the natural compounds such as Pentatriacontanoic acid, 1-Nonacosanol and Triacontanol were isolated and identified from the leaf part of ethyl acetate extract of Alpinia purpurata. The molecular docking studies revealed that, the isolated compound of Pentatriacontanoic acid have good inhibitory activity against CXCR4 and PTEN when compared with finasteride (FDA approved drug for prostate cancer) and ADME properties prediction results of the compound under acceptable range. The isolated compound Pentatriacontanoic acid has good cell growth inhibitory activity minimal concentration (IC50) by the MTT assay. |
