Abstract: | A MANET refers to a self configuring multi-hop wireless network which can be immediately developed in circumstances where either a fixed infrastructure is unavailable or difficult to install Manet has mobile nodes which are connected through wireless links Due to the limited radio newlinepropagation range nodes of a MANET communicate either through single hop or multi hop transmission In MANET structure of the network may change frequently due to the movement of the nodes Multicasting protocols in MANET are either tree based or mesh based protocols Multicasting is an excellent approach to reduce network traffic in Ad Hoc network and newlineMANET Thus multicasting is more efficient when compared to unicast routing as it transmits a single copy of the message to several destination within a single transmission This research work presents two protocols namely ECPM and SRBM to overcome the overheads of tree and mesh based structures in multicast routing protocols In the first work Efficient Continuous Path Multicast ECPM routing protocol is proposed Efficient Continuous Path Multicast Protocol newlineuses Virtual Symmetric Structure VSS This structure selects an efficient route for multicast members Multicast Routing Protocol using VSS is Efficient ECPM using VSS is more efficient protocol with unbreakable optimal routes from source to destination This structure selects an efficient route for multicast members In ECPM protocol using VSS the user sends a Request to Send RTS message to a Multicast group The nodes in the group receives the information and calculates the HIPPO nodes for each multicast region Once a node receives multicast packets multicast module duplicates the copies of the packets to be transmitted to various destinations Once the packets are replicated the replicated packets contain a header with information like TTL checksum and list of multicast members newline newline |
