The Switched Reluctance Motor SRM is quite rugged reliable newlineinexpensive simple to construct and offers a relatively high torquetoinertia newlineratio The simple power electronic converter high efficiency and capability of newlinevery high speed operations are among other specific advantages of SR motor newlinedrives With these unique advantages SR motor is emerging as a potential newlinecandidate for a number of drive applications in industrial and consumer newlineproducts But it has no uniform speed as a result of existing saliency Also its newlinespeed is typically affected by loads and nonlinear variation of circuit elements newlineplaced on the machine in addition to the type of control employed A third newlinedisadvantage is that the inductance of the set of poles exhibit a nonlinear newlinebehavior and makes control difficult In this context issues like simulation newlinecontrol with and without position sensors and the implementation of the newlinecontroller are the major contributions of this thesis The full setup is tested on newlinea 400 W 4 phase 86 SR motor newline newlineen_US
