Abstract: | In this thesis, we have attempted to provide a broad-level conceptual framework aimed at understanding analytically the overall concept of green supply chain management. A comprehensive review of literature has been conducted analysing the prominent case studies in the general areas of greening and green SCM. We have analysed the antecedents and consequents of green supply chain management. We have investigated the link between greening efforts by a firm and its economic performance. We propose models which are based on profitability as a measure of economic performance and have demonstrated the various scenarios under price premium effect. The mathematical models have been formulated primarily considering the vertical channel conflict issues for both integrated and disintegrated supply chain frameworks. We begin the modelling with single manufacturer and single retailer, and further introduce competition at both manufacturer and retailer level in a duopoly market setup. The results and propositions are analysed with numerical analysis under simulation setup with multiple scenarios. We have also conducted a brief interview-based survey of industry experts and researchers aimed at understanding the practical implications of the proposed problem setup. In the end, we have provided recommendations for managers for better economic performance and resolution of channel conflicts. newline |
