Abstract: The objective the research is to measure and evaluate the economic impact of local finance of North Chotagpur Division of Jharkhand. The research incorporates case study approach of research. Both primary and secondary data are utilized in this research. The selection of municipalities is based on convenience sampling. It was found during the study that owns resources of municipal bodies are not sufficient to match the financial requirements. The tax collection machinery is inefficient as such the arrears of holding tax are accumulating. It is suggested that the rent on municipal property should be revised in view of the rise in level of prices, the rent on municipal property should be revised in view of the rise in level of prices, improved business infrastructure should be provided, start-up support services should be provided to the potential entrepreneurs, and Municipalities are required to invest in human skills in order to promote entrepreneurship and self-reliance.
