Abstract: | Socioeconomic Exclusion of Scheduled Caste: A Study of Rural Fatehabad Block, Haryana studied about the social exclusion of Scheduled Castes in the region of the rural area of Fatehabad Block, Fatehabad district of Haryana. The study attempts to explore the caste-based exclusion and discrimination of Scheduled Castes community and came up with many valuable findings. Although, the caste-based exclusion and discrimination has prevailed in Indian society from very long time but social exclusion is a relatively new concept. Therefore, it has become new and thrust area in the social science-based research in India and needs to be studied for its eradication. Fatehabad was selected as study area because the district has the highest population of Scheduled Castes having lowest socioeconomic profile in the state of Haryana. The present study attempts to answer four main research questions namely; what is the concept of social exclusion, what is the socioeconomic profile of the Scheduled Castes, which factors of social exclusion are responsible and how socio-economic empowerment influences social exclusion? The objective of this study is to understand the concept of social exclusion, to study the socioeconomic profile of the Scheduled Castes, to identify the responsible factors of social exclusion and to evaluate the influence of empowerment on social exclusion. The present study attempts to nullify the hypothesis that there is no significant influence of socioeconomic empowerment on social exclusion. This study is based on the descriptive and explorative research approach and quantitative (deductive) methods to attain the objectives. Both secondary and primary sources of data are used in the study. Secondary data has been collected from different reports and journals and primary data was collected with the help of well-structured interview schedule from 486 household respondents of the age group of 18 to 65 years.
