Abstract: | The drug delivery system plays important role in controlling the pharmacological and pharmacokinetic profile of the drug, release rate, the site, drug action period and the side-effect profile. An excellent DDS ensures that the active drug is available at the place of action for the correct time and duration. The amount of drug on the desired site should be more than the least effective concentration and newlineunder the toxic concentration. This concentration is known as the Therapeutic range . Although the term quotdosage formquot is often used for physical nature of the drug while the term delivery system used to refer the way the release of drug from medicine and delivers it to the specific region of the body to the target organ, tissues, cells or even cellular organelle. newlineFor controlled drug delivery systems size and morphology of the polymer matrix assumes an extremely important role in the drug release and pharmacokinetics. Polymer physical blends are frequently used as excipients in the pharmaceutical field to obtain controlled drug delivery systems due to their versatility. Mixed polymer drug delivery systems must possess the appropriate morphology to facilitate the required drug release profile. newlineseries of hydrophilic groups such as succinyl, is introduced into its skeleton, we can get tailor made derivative of chitosan with increased solubility and other desired characteristics. N-succinyl-chitosan and newlineLauryl Succinyl chitosan has unique characteristics in vitro/in vivo such as biocompatibility, low toxicity and long-term retention in the body after Intravenous administration. Thus it can be considered as attractive drug carrier especially for various drugs especially for anticancer agents. newline newline |
