dc.description.abstract | Two nature inspired computing (NIC) techniques, viz., Intelligent water drops (IWD) and Particle swarm optimization (PSO) are used to solve the vehicle routing problem (VRP) with multiple objectives. In the first two chapters the problem and the techniques to solve the problem are presented. The IWD and PSO, i.e., MO-IWD and MO-PSO are proposed to solve the problem and track multiple solutions that arises due to the presence of multiple objectives in the problem. Proposed MO-IWD and MO-PSO algorithms are presented in chapter-III and chapter-IV respectively. The experiments on parameter tuning and the test results of the algorithms on standard benchmark test problems are also presented in these chapters. The computation time achieved by the MO-IWD is remarkable. newlineParallel versions of the proposed algorithms, viz., parallel MO-IWD and parallel MO-PSO are proposed in chapter-V and chapter-VI respectively. The comparison of the proposed algorithms is presented in chapter-VII. This chapter presents the time reductions achieved in the proposed parallel versions of the algorithms in comparison of proposed serial versions of the respective algorithms. This chapter also presents the comparison of computation time achieved by the proposed algorithms with the existing techniques. newline newline | |
