dc.description.abstract | The purpose of the study is to find out the Influence of Martial Arts - Silambam newlineAnd Kalari Traning on Selected Motor Fitness Variables for School Boys. . To facilitate the newlinestudy, sixty healthy, untrained school boys of Tirunelveli District were selected as subjects at newlinerandom and their age from fourteen to eighteen years. They were divided into three equal newlinegroups randomly namely as silambam group, kalari group and control group. Group I underwent newlinesilambam training, Group II underwent kalari training for Sixteen weeks (for three days per newlineweek). And Group III acted as control that did not participate in any special training programme newlineapart from their regular activities as per their curriculum. There would be significant newlineimprovement on selected criterion variables such as Speed, Agility, Flexibility, Grip Strength, newlineShoulder Strength, Leg Strength, Abdominal Strength, Muscular Strength, Explosive Power and newlineReaction Time among school boys due to Martial arts- silambam and kalari trainings. The study newlineinvolved a pre and post tests random group design with three groups assigned with different newlinetraining batteries. The pre-test was taken from the subjects before administrating the training. newlineThe subjects were involved with their respective training for a period of sixteen weeks under the newlinepersonal supervision of the research scholar. At the end of seventeenth weeks onwards , The pre newlineand post test data on the selected criterion variables were collected by administering the test as newlineper the standardized procedures before and after the sixteen week of the training programme In newlinethis study, analysis of co-variance statistical techniques was used to find out the selected motor newlinefitness variables among school boys. Whenever, the adjusted post test was significant, the newlineScheffe s post hoc test was used to find out the paired mean significant difference. In all the newlinecases, .05 level of confidence was fixed to test the level of significance. The analysis of the data newlineindicated that Silambam training had Signific | - |
