Abstract: | Sports is a discipline where the winner is decided by certain standards. newlineThe standards vary from sports to sports. These standards may be fixed in the newlineterms of points or scores in certain sports, and in some other in terms of time and newlineso on. Sports is a wider term which includes games, athletics, equestrian, newlineswimming, cycling, gymnastics, shooting, archery, boxing, certain martial arts newlineand other events. newlineSports skill tests are designed to measure the basic skills used in a sports newlineevent. Because of the wide range of skills in most sports, the selection of the newlinemost important skill is invariably critical. The skill tests help the students to newlineevaluate their performance in the fundamental skills of the game and provide an newlineincentive for improvement. The tests also serve the purpose of helping the newlineteachers or the coach to measure the player s performance and to evaluate their newlineown teaching or coaching, procedure and programme. newlineIn test construction the test to be valid should have some basic newlineconsiderations. The basic considerations would adhere to the standards of newlinesignificance of test such as validity, reliability, objectivity and norms. According newlineto Johnson and Nelson (1988) the nature of the game should be analysed in steps newlinein order. Step one is to determine the skills that are involved in the activity. In newlinestep two, the selection of test items that measure the desired equalities are newlineincluded. It is the most crucial step in the entire test construction. The selection of newlinethe test items must be chosen with regard to their importance as well as their newlinepropensity to be measured accurately. newline |
