Abstract: | India s bounteous heritage includes not just breathtaking beautiful architecture, rich newlinetraditions and diverse cultures but also mesmerizing and scenic landscapes. From the challenging newlinesnow-clad peaks of the Himalayas and the cool hill stations of the north, to the alluring beaches on the newlinewestern and eastern coasts and the ornate temples of the south, India has the variety to satiate the newlineinterests of one who travels through the country. India is a country known for its hospitality to all its newlinevisitors, no matter where they come from. Its visitor-friendly traditions, varied life styles and cultural newlineheritage and colourful fairs and festivals held abiding attractions for the tourists. Tourism is an newlineimportant social and economic phenomenon in many countries. It is a key driver of socio-economic newlineprogress because of the jobs and enterprises created, infrastructure developed, and the export revenues newlineearned. This study attempts to evaluate the economic development of India and Tamilnadu in general newlineby way of tourists arrival and the earnings earned out of it and the impact of the tourism in newlineKanyakumari District in particular. The report has been presented in seven chapters with the newlinefollowing objectives. newline To highlight the Contribution of Tourism Industry to the National Economy. newline To evaluate the performance of Tourism in Tamilnadu and at Kanyakumari District. newline To analyse the Economic Impact of Business people at the tourist spots in Kanyakumari newlineDistrict. newline To analyse the perception of tourists who visit Kanyakumari District. newlineFindings of the study: It is known from the analysis and discussions that there is positive strides in newlinethe tourism industry of India, Tamilnadu and Kanyakumari District in all aspects like domestic newlinetourists arrivals, foreign tourists arrivals and the foreign exchange earnings as it is witnessed through newlinetrend analysis. Further it is also noted from the survey on the business people who are running the newlinebusiness on the tourists spots of Kanyakumari District. |
