Title: A study on supply chain management of agriculture marketing in Kanniya kumari district

Abstract: Agriculture sector is very important for the food and nutritional production of the newlinenation. A discussion on agri-supply chain management presents a wide picture of the newlineagricultural marketing system of the country. To achieve the requirement, farmers need newlinegood delivering system and supply chain management as their dominant tools. It involves newlineadministration and investment techniques to transfer crops from the place of production to newlinethe place of consumers. An effective supply chain can be of help to upgrade the newlineefficiencies in production, processing, storage and transportation. newlineThe present study has chosen the district of Kanyakumari for its study. The newlineKanyakumari district has been divided into 9 blocks and from each block 90 respondents newlinewere selected. In total we were able to collect 742 usable questionnaires. Primary and newlineSecondary data were collected. For collecting primary data 742 respondents were selected newlineby snowball method. The main focus of the present research is to study the role of the newlinesupply chain in Agricultural marketing in Kanyakumari district. There are various factors newlinethat influences the selection of the supply chain by the farmers. newlineThe present research had analysed those factors and highlighted in each category newlineof crop what are the preferred mode of supply chain. It also studied the major expectations newlineof the farmers from the supply chain and the government and whether the expectations newlinehave been met. In most cases the expectations of the farmers remain unsatisfied. Three newlinecrops (Banana, Coconut and Paddy) have been selected for study and evaluated the newlineproblems faced by the farmers and tried to provide solutions to that problems. newlineThe data tabulated are systematically processed and interpreted on the basis of the newlineobjectives formulated. Statistical tools such as percentage, averages are used for basic newlineanalysis, Factor analysis, Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test, Kruskal -Wallis (H) test, Mann newlineWhitney U test, Cronbach s alpha reliability test, Garrett Ranking Techniques.
