Abstract: | Kodaikanal is a city in the hills of the Dindigul district in the state of Tamil Nadu, newlineIndia. It is situated 7,200 feet above sea level amongst the picturesque western ghats of newlineIndia. It was established in 1845 as a refuge from the high temperatures and tropical newlinediseases of the plains. Kodaikanal is referred to as the quotPrincess of Hill stationsquot and has a newlinelong history as a retreat and popular tourist destination. Kodaikanal is well positioned to newlinetake the advantage of the enthusiasm of tourism where it possesses some of the greatest newlinewealth like archaeological, historical, religious, natural resource India has been a big newlinedraw to attract tourists from across the globe. The first chapter presents the design of the newlinestudy; the second chapter presents the review of literature; the third chapter presents the newlinesignificance of tourism; the fourth chapter presents the tourist attractions in Kodaikanal; newlinethe fifth chapter presents the analysis of the attitude of tourists visiting Kodaikanal and newlinethe sixth chapter presents the findings and suggestions of the study. newlineMajority of the tourists visiting Kodaikanal are satisfied of Kodaikanal as a tourist newlinedestination. Kodaikanal has been significantly successful in its tourism efforts in creating newlinea key platform for both domestic and international traffic. The entire region has vast newlineuntapped potential in tourist and its allied sectors and there is a lot of scope for its future newlinedevelopment and promotion. If all the existing tourism resources of Kodaikanal are fully newlineexplored and tapped carefully with active community participation, then the problems newlinepresently faced may be solved efficiently and excellently and tourism could be well newlinepromoted in the years to come. newline |
