dc.description.abstract | newline Nanocrystals are of great scientific interest as they are effectively a newlinebridge between bulk materials and atomic or molecular structures. newlineNanotechnology has the potential to change economy and to improve our newlinestandard of living. The unique chemical, electronic, magnetic optical and other newlineproperties of nanocrystals have already led to their evaluation and use in a newlinebroad range of industries including biotechnology, catalysis, data storage, newlineenergy storage, microelectronics and others. newlineTiO2 is a metal oxide nanocrystal, which is widely studied for its newlinepotential applications such as gas sensing, white pigments for paints cosmetics, newlinesolar cells, transducer and photochemical degradation of organic pollutants. newlineTitanium dioxide occurs mainly in three crystalline phases namely anatase, newlinerutile and brookite. These three phases differ in physical properties such as newlinerefractive index, dielectric constant, chemical and photochemical reactivity. newlineAnatase is most preferable for photocatalysis and antibacterial studies due to newlinethe large bandgap (~ 3.2 eV). newlineThe present research work focuses the preparation and characterization newlineof pure and non metals doped TiO2 nanocrystals. The anatase phase pure and newlinenon metals (Nitrogen, Sulfur, Fluorine, separately each with 5 different newlineconcentrations, viz 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9 W%) doped TiO2 nanocrystals are prepared newlineby Sol Gel method. They are structurally characterized by XRD, EDAX, newlineXPS, SEM, FTIR and optically characterized by UV-Visible, PL studies. The newlinephotocatalytic application, antimicrobial and antifungal activity of the newlinesynthesized samples are also carried out. newlineThe results obtained in the present study indicates that the method newlineadopted is an effective and economical one for preparing TiO2 nanocrystals newlinewith high purity, and smaller size, which is highly useful for visible light newlinephotocatalysis. | - |
