Abstract: With the rapid growth in digital technologies and communication newlinetransmission of videos and images over Internet is unsecured due to various newlinesecurity threats and eavesdropping Video encryption algorithms prevent newlinecipher attacks and eavesdropping during transmission across network Video newlineencryption algorithms are classified into two categories namely i newlinecompression independent encryption and ii compression dependent newlineencryption In compression independent techniques encryption and newlinecompression are carried out as two separate processes i e Video streams are newlinenot compressed during encryption and encryption is not employed during newlinecompression Whereas in compression dependent algorithms compression newlineand encryption operations are integrated together As compression and newlineencryption processes are done in the same process these algorithms are also newlinecalled as Joint Video Compression and Encryption JVCE techniques newlineTraditional independent algorithms that do compression after newlineencryption do not satisfy demands of video transmission such as low newlinecomputational overhead high security levels and optimum cost They are newlineslow for many video applications Therefore joint video compression and newlineencryption techniques are gaining attention in recent years due to the newlineincreasing demand for low computational overhead and high security levels newlinein transmitting video data across the globe over the net Tradalgorithms necessitate more computational overhead and provide low security newlineto video streams Most of the existing selective encryption schemes are newlineproven to be weak against cryptanalysis Joint video compression and newlineencryption schemes provide encryption with low overheads without changing newlinethe structure of video content Joint Video Compression and Encryption newline techniques are gaining attention in recent years due to the following newlinereasons low computational overhead reduced resource requirement and newlinebetter security newline newline
