Abstract: | Diabetes Mellitus is the most well known Constitutional disorder of newlineCarbohydrates Metabolism characterized by inadequate Secretion or newlineutilization of insulin This disorder condition reduces the bodys ability to newlinemaintain normal blood glucose levels Monitoring of blood glucose level is a newlinemajor problem in the management of diabetes mellitus in the past decade A newlinesolution to this problem like non invasive optical methods for the monitoring newlineof glucose concentration has attracted considerable interest among the public newlineThis research work aims at the determination of non invasive blood glucose newlineconcentration using the laser Doppler measuring technique The system has newlinebeen designed using a Helium Neon He Ne laser source operating at 632 8 newlinenm wavelength with 5 mW power photo detector L14G3 Fairchild and a newlinePersonal Computer The laser beam is directed by a single optical fiber newlinethrough the index finger and the scattered beam is collected by the photo newlinedetectors placed circumferentially to the transmitting fiber The received newlinesignals are filtered using a low pass filter then amplified and finally sent to a newlinePersonal Computer These signals are then decomposed into approximation newlineand detailed coefficients using modified Haar Wavelet Transform newline newline |
