Abstract: | With increase in penetration of wind energy it has become essential to deal newlinewith the problems associated with the grid connected Wind Energy Conversion newlineSystems The different types of generators used in a WECS are Squirrel Cage newlineInduction Generators Doubly Fed Induction Generators permanent magnet generatorsand synchronous generatorsThe literature survey carried out shows that research works have been carried out on the comparison of the performance of the Wind Energy Generation systems using Squirrel cage induction generators and DoublyFed Induction Generators The results of these research show that the Doubly Fed Induction Generators have the advantages of higher energy output lower rating andhence lower cost of converters and better utilization of a generator when compared to the systems using a Cage Rotor Induction machine newlineIn this research an attempt is made to analyze the steady state characteristics newlineof Doubly Fed Induction Generators The torque speed stator power and rotor newlinepower characteristics of DFIG for different values of rotor injected voltage are newlinestudied using the steady state equivalent circuit of the Doubly Fed Induction newlineGenerator newline newline |
