Abstract: | The term Cancer is derived from a Greek word Karkinos by a physician Hippocrates around 460-370 B.C for carcinoma-tumors. Cancer has a very old history as evidenced by the presence of bone-cancer in mummies and a recorded case of breast cancer from the ancient Egypt in 1500 B.C (Sudhakar, 2009; Faguet, 2015). Cancer is a complex genetic disease, which can affect nearly every organ/system in the human body and one of the leading causes of human-mortality globally. World Health Organization (WHO) has estimated around 11 million deaths from cancer worldwide by 2030 (Stefenatos et al., 2011). In general, cancer can be defined as uncontrolled cell-proliferation leading to growth of mass of cells, called tumor/lumps. Sustained cell-proliferation and evading apoptotic-signals are the characteristic hallmarks of growing tumor (Hanahan et a.l, 2011).
