Abstract: The melt quenching method is used to prepare glasses in the present work. The synthesized glasses are annealed and characterized X ray diffraction study confirms the amorphous nature of the investigated glasses. The glass transition temperature, density, molar volume and Vickers micro hardness exhibited composition dependent trends the observed variations reveal that the heavy metal ions play an important role in the glass structure The glass transition temperature varies with composition of glass and the content of heavy metal oxide. Vickers hardness also showed composition dependent trend which is analogous to newlineii newline newlinevariations seen in Tg. The variations seen in Tg and Vickers hardness are correlated to the structure of glass. the structural aspects of NBPN, NBBN and NBTN glasses WHICH have been investigated by using FTIR, Raman and MAS-NMR spectroscopy. The vibrational spectroscopy reveals the presence of B O B, B-O- in trigonal and tetrahedral boron units. The Raman spectroscopy reveals the vibrations related to cations in the lower wave number region. The MAS NMR spectra of the investigated glasses reveals the presence of two different coordination of borons. The concentration of [BO3/2]0 and [BO4/2]- units in the glass structure varies with the dopant concentrations newline
