dc.description.abstractProduction of corn maize in India is estimated as 245 MT as on newlineOctober 2016 and India is ranked as 7th based on its production Corn cob newlineCC generated during processing of maize is unutilized and is dumped as newlinewaste As gasification is unique for its amenability to generate power from newlinekW to MW scale it was planned to adopt gasification process for recovering newlineenergy from CCs Moreover lack of literature on the influence of throat newlinegeometry on the gasifier performance had also been noticed Thus it was newlineintended to study the influence of throat geometry on the performance of a newlinefixed bed system gasifying CCs It was also envisaged to carry out newlinestoichiometric equilibrium modeling of CC and wood gasification so as to newlinecompare and analyse the quality of CC gas with wood gas Simulation newlineanalysis revealed that CC could produce a good quality gas and is comparable newlinewith wood newline newline
