Abstract

The study pertains to the wear behaviour of GCI and its counter newlinematerial under sliding conditions at various environmental states This newlineresearch work also investigates the material transfer between the two sliding newlinecontact surfaces newlineThe use of cast iron is confined not only for industrial applications newlinebut also used extensively in commercial applications In many applications newlineGCI is subjected to different metal to metal contact under dry lubricated and newlinetemperature conditions The main phenomenon in metal to metal sliding is newlinewear it may occur on either surface or any one of the surfaces due to the newlineproperty of material or nature of contact or the sliding parameter of the test newlineDue to this reason either adhesive or rolling contact wear can occur under newlinevarious tribological conditions Adhesive wear can occur on the surface due to newlinethe presence of localized bonding or oxide formation This research work newlineinvolves GCIEN31 sliding contact studies under dry lubricated and heated newlineconditions Due to this metal to metal contact localized bonding may occur newlineleading to material transfer from GCI to EN31 steel or vice versa newline newline
