dc.description.abstract.Allahabad is situated at the confluence of the Ganga and Yamuna rivers. It encompasses a large area and is an inland Peninsula surrounded by rivers on three sides with only one side connected to the mainland. The name is derived from the one given to the city by the Mughal Emperor Akbar in 1583. The name is Indian Language generally is Ilahabad, Ilah being Arabic for (a) god and in Sanskrit Ilaand#8223; is the sub name of goddess Durga. (in this content from Din-i-illahi, the religious founded by Akbar) and a bad is Persian for to construct or to create, which explains the meaning in any case of the name Illahabad as Godand#8223;s creation or city of God and Goddesses Allahabad University has occupied an esteemed place among the Universities of India for over a century. It established on Twenty Third September 1887. It is the fourth oldest university of India after Calcutta university, Bombay University and Madras university. The credit for concerning a large central college at Allahabad eventually to develop into a university is due to eye of Sir Wellian Muir on September 23rd, 1887 Act XVIII was passed which established the Allahabad university. As the Universities of Calcutta, Bombay and Madras, Allahabad university also started as a degree confering institution In 1951, the University had recognized certain local institution as associated colleges authorised to teach undergraduate courses under the faculty of Arts, Commerce, Science and Law. newline The university has the privilege of having on its rolls a host of distinguished Politicians and Statesman including one President and two VicePresidents of country, two former Prime Minister several Union and State Ministers and State Minister at least four Chief Justice of Supreme Court newline-
