Abstract: Hypoxia refers to demand in oxygen supply to a cell or tissue newlineHypoxia modulates vascular functions by inducing structural changes in the newlineendothelial cell monolayer which is the innermost lining of blood vessels newlineTherefore acute hypoxia changes permeability and induces leakiness in newlineendothelium This hypoxic condition increases the production of ROS and newlinethereby decreases NO level in ECs Hypoxic condition also leads to newlinecardiovascular complications like high altitude pulmonary edema newlinehypertension and acute mountain diseases Recent evidence shows that newlineconsumption of dietary nitrites reduces blood pressure in hypertension newlinepatients and improves cardiovascular health We hypothesize that green NO newlinederived from spice shields the cardiovascular system from hypoxia mediated newlinevascular damages newline newline
