The Post newlineIndustrial Society thus can be called as Information Society. In such a newlinesociety, Capital alone does not ensure productivity, instead of Information newlinewhich is the key Economic resource. Information, the self- regenerative newlineresource, is today the fourth dimension of society (other than 3 m s i.e. newlinemoney, Material and Men). In order to gear up information activities the newlineLibraries and Information Centres have become an inevitable part of the newlineSociety. The Public Libraries at the various levels of the Society is cater to newlinethe information needs of every Citizen. The Academic Libraries feed newlineinformation to the students and teachers for their different academic pursuits newlineand the Special Libraries organise and disseminate information to the newlinedecision makers and Information Scientists to obtain the goals of their parent newlineorganizations so the libraries are mainly entrusted with a host of newlinepredetermined tasks of acquiring, organizing, preserving, retrieving and newlinedisseminating information to the users.
