Abstract: The recent developments in aerospace petrochemical marine nuclear power generation and process industries have driven the need for hard high strength and Heat Resistant Super Alloys HRSAs Among the HRSA the nickel based Inconel 718 is the most frequently used Inconel 718 machining is an inevitable and challenging task even in modern manufacturing processes Till date carbides are mostly used as cutting tool material to machine Inconel 718 at slow speeds Earlier research indicated that uncoated tool performance was more cost effective than the coated cutting tools for finishing process Due to lack of proper understanding of the performance of cutting tools in facing and turning operation they are often operated under lower productivity and inferior quality In order to achieve higher productivity and desired surface roughness researchers suggested several ways The cost effective machining is an important and challenging task it can be resolved by adopting various cooling techniques study of tool wear mechanism and optimisation of machining parameters newline newline
