Studies on flexural behaviour of reinforced geopolymer concrete using river sand and manufactured sand

Abstract

Geopolymer Concrete is produced as a binder instead of Portland cement The base material viz fly ash is activated by alkaline solution to produce the binder which is rich in Silica Si and Aluminium Al Geopolymer Concrete possesses excellent strength and appearance similar to conventional concrete made from the Portland cement From the review of available literature it is observed that there is no proper design procedure for Geopolymer Concrete With the generic information available on Geopolymers a rigorous trial and error method was adopted to develop a process of manufacturing fly ash based Geopolymer Concrete following the technology currently used to manufacture Ordinary Portland Cement Concrete
