Abstract: Knowledge sharing plays an important role in higher education newlineinstitutions It is difficult for higher educational institutions to effectively newlinemanage the tacit knowledge which resides in the Subject Matter Experts newlinemind It needed to maintain with mobility shared to all the knowledge seekers newlineand rewarded to the knowledge providers based on their knowledge newlinecontribution There are two main types of knowledge viz tacit knowledge newlineand explicit knowledge Every individual has a quality of possessing the newlineexplicit and tacit knowledge within him her Explicit knowledge can be newlinedisseminated through articulating documents can be expressed in the form of newlineformal languages Explicit knowledge is considered as technical knowledge newlineTacit knowledge is the kind of knowledge which is difficult to verbalize them newlineto other person It can be learnt only through experience Tacit knowledge is newlineautomatic resembles intuition and is oral It needs separate methods to extract newlinethe two types of knowledge newlineThe sharing of knowledge constitutes a major challenge in the field newlineof knowledge management because some employees tend to resist sharing newlinetheir knowledge with the rest of the organization There is a prominent newlineobstacle in the sharing of knowledge it acts like a property and hence it is newlinevery important to have an ownership for that The risk in the act of knowledge newlinesharing is that individuals are most commonly rewarded for what they know newlinenot for what they share with others If the knowledge is not shared negative newlineconsequences such as isolation and resistance of ideas among the individuals newlinemay occur Shared knowledge offers different viewpoints and possible newlinesolutions to problems In order to counteract this individuals must be newlinereassured that they will receive the some type of incentive for what they newlinecreate and share newlineIn this thesis firstly the focus is on the creation of knowledge and newlinethe dissemination of knowledge available in the universities newline
