Abstract: Inflammation is part of the complex biological response of vascular newlinetissues to harmful stimuli such as pathogens damaged cells or irritants newlineAlthough infection is caused by a microorganism inflammation is one of the newlineresponses of the host to the pathogen Epidemiological and recent studies newlinehave indicated chronic infections and inflammation as a major risk factor in newlinevarious types of diseases and disorders newlineProbiotic bacteria are live commensal bacteria which confer many newlinehealth benefits to the host The application of probiotic lactobacilli starts with newlinethe general assumption that the mechanisms underlying the health promoting newlinecapacities of lactobacilli belong to one of the following sometimes newlineoverlapping and categories i pathogen inhibition and restoration of newlinemicrobial homeostasis through microbemicrobe interactions ii enhancement newlineof epithelial barrier function and iii modulation of immune responses newlineProbiotic bacteria Lactobacillus casei largely found in the intestine does newlinemany health promoting events Probiotics have long been used as an newlinealternative to traditional medicine with the aim of maintaining intestinal newlinehomeostasis and preventing disease newlineWe have investigated the key components involved in the newlineregulation of antiinflammatory potential of probiotic Lactobacillus casei In newlinethe present study the ability of LCEAS on proliferation of mononuclear newlinecells crucial for generation of effective immune response was analyzed in the newlinepresence of the mitogen PHA Proinflammatory cytokines like TNF and ILiv newline6 play an important role in the inflammatory response by responding to a newlinewide variety of invasive stimuli and its overproduction has been shown to newlineinduce the production of various inflammatory mediators such as iNOS and newlinenitric oxide There is a large body of evidence to suggest that NO is involved newlinein several inflammatory disorders Significant decrease in the LPSinduced newlineNO production was observed on treatment with LCEAS which could be due newlineto suppression of NOS as evidenced by RTPCR studies newline newline
