The objective of the thesis is to investigate the effect of personality, emotional intelligence and gender on job satisfaction of secondary school teachers. The present study is a valuable addition to the new emerging field of emotional intelligence, personality and job satisfaction. Entire secondary school teachers working under West Bengal Board of Secondary Education are considered as population. The survey sample included 888 secondary school teachers. Job satisfaction scale, emotional intelligence inventory, both developed and standardized by the investigators and culturally adapted big five inventory were used to collect from samples. It is observed from the analysis that more than 60 percent secondary teachers are averagely satisfied. It is also observed from analysis that high emotional intelligent teacher possesses high level of satisfaction than that average as well as low level emotional intelligent teacher. Results also revealed that female teachers are more satisfied than their male counterpart. It is also found that conscientious and agreeable teachers are highly satisfied with their teaching job whereas neurotic teachers did not satisfied with their teaching job. The connotation of current state of teachers are very dangerous as it not only destroys the professional status of a teacher but also devastates the spirit of the school life. If teachers began to believe that their profession has contribution in making of the mankind and causing steps forward in the society, then their job satisfaction level will go high.
