Abstract: In Shakespeareand#8223;s comedies love has been depicted in various ways. The immaculate and innocent newlineenvironment of his comedies is reinforced by the portrayal of different shreds of love. Love, in his newlinecomedies is instrumental in the transformation of the atmosphere of torment and sorrow into that of newlineharmony and bliss. Hence the portrayal of love is integral in reflecting his world-vision and newlinephilosophy of life. newlineThrough the incessant march of civilization human race has encountered various challenges, turning newlinethe modern life into a more complicated and disintegrated entity. Accordingly the nature and feature of newlinelove have changed. Shakespeareand#8223;s mature analysis of different aspects of love can well be applied to newlinemodern situations. The relationship and contrast between love and lust, depicted in his comedies, newlineexplains the problems of modern life. Love cannot be fruited and culminated without the virtues like, newlinesharing, caring, responsibility, trust, truthfulness, forgiveness and sacrifice on which Shakespeare has newlinegiven so much emphasis. The proposed thesis aims at analyzing, and evaluating the portrayal of love newlinein Shakespeareand#8223;s comedies so as to bring out his vision of a utopian world-order. Also it will reiterate newlinethe relevance of the master in the modern age. newlineThe love depicted in Shakespeareand#8223;s comedies is not an isolated phenomenon. It has largest appeal to newlinethe sensibility of masses as it is related with the socio-cultural and psychological aspect of common newlineman. Thus it has a universal appeal. It is for all times and for all places. The reason behind the keen newlineinterest of the readers in Shakespeare and his works is the universal nature of his plays. His comedies newlinedevelop from the experiences of common people, thus revealing their universal passions, emotions and newlineconditions. Shakespeare, our greatest contemporaryand#8223; has instilled so much meaning in his portrayal of newlinelove that it has assumed symbolic, even iconographical dimensions. newline
