Abstract: Training needs assessment is the first crucial step followed in the process of newlineorganisational training. Introduced by McGehee and Thayer (1961), training needs newlineassessment (TNA) studies have been reflective on the importance of TNA in context to newlinetraining, how in practice TNA is apparent and the various TNA models and frameworks. The newlineTNA data gathering tools and techniques have been there for different levels of TNA, that is, newlineat organisational level, task level, person or man analysis level (Moore and Dutton 1978). newlineTraining needs assessment in practice in organisations shows how TNA has been in the newlinescenario, the criteria considered for selection of data collection method to determine training newlineneeds assessment; and challenges organisations have been facing while conducting TNA. newlineWhere, different groups were also brought into the forefront showing TNA in practice. The newlineneeds identified by TNA were another area explored.
