Abstract: | Pharmaceutical analysis is defined as a sequence of processes used to identify newlineor quantify a substance or drug, the components of a pharmaceutical solution and the newlinedetermination of chemical compounds used in the formulation of pharmaceutical newlineproduct. A pharmaceutical compound is a chemical entity of therapeutic interest and it newlineis appropriately termed as active pharmaceutical ingredient in pharmaceutical newlinechemistry. The drug substances (API) are very rarely administered in its pure form newlineand are usually converted to drug product. A drug product is usually prepared by newlineformulating the drug substance with inert ingredients that is suitable and acceptable newlinefor administration by patients. Modern pharmaceutical analysis encompasses the newlinecritical analysis of drug substances and the dosage forms having either single or newlinemulticomponent formulated product. The analysis of pharmaceutical product is newlineextremely important in all stages of drug development process including marketing newlineand post marketing to assure the quality throughout its shelf life. The pharmaceutical newlineanalysis is carried out by an analyst who plays a major role in assuring identity, newlinesafety, efficacy, purity and quality of a drug product. Safety and efficacy studies newlinerequire that drug substance and drug product meet the established identity and purity newlineas well as bioavailability and dissolution requirements. newline |
