Abstract: | In India, there is an enormous scope for industrial development because of rich natural resources, power resources, commercial crops and the most important human resources. The garments industry is one of the major industries and growing in manifold revolutionary ways since independence. Post Independence, India witnessed the building up of Jeans garment capabilities, diversification of its product base, and emergence of its Jeans garment market, once again, as an important global player. India is the world s second largest producer of jeans after China. The jeans industry in India is currently the largest one among textile garments. In India, Jeans garment sector is one of the largest contributors to India s exports with approximately 11 per cent of total exports. The Jeans industry is dreadfully labour intensive and employs about 40 million workers directly and 60 million indirectly. The Indian Jeans garments industry is extremely varied, with the hand-spun and hand-woven Jeans garments sectors at one end of the spectrum, while the capital intensive sophisticated mills sector at the other end. The Indian Jeans garment industry is as diverse and complex as country itself and it combines with equal equanimity. newlineThe present study gratify a dire need of understanding the problems like financial, management, industrial, technical and human resource problems faced by the jeans industry and impact of these problems on costing of the jeans in reference to Thane region which is one of the biggest jeans manufacturing destination in India newlineI newlineThis study will help us to identify the issues faced by the jeans sector and the means to overcome such issues. Therefore the sole aim of this study is to prove jeans market as a stronghold in the readymade garment sector in India. The problems faced by manufacturers, workers and traders in implementing the marketing strategies and measures needed to solve these problems, come under the purview of this study.
