Abstract: | In this thesis, the design and development of compact multi band newlineantennas with different polarizations for multi frequency applications using two newlinedifferent patch geometries 1) sectoral and 2) circular are investigated. The main newlineaim of the designs is to achieve circular polarization in the fundamental newlineresonance band and linear polarization in the rest. The geometrical parameters, newlineupon which the various aspects of design are centered, are investigated. The newlinedependence of the reflection and polarization characteristics on these newlinedimensions was studied using standard simulation tools and was experimentally newlineconfirmed. Mathematical relations were also deduced which would enable the newlineantenna to be designed on any chosen substrate for any desired frequency range newlineof operation. The design also incorporate techniques within the structure to newlineeffectively reduce cross polarization. Different patch geometry modifications newlinehave been utilized which results in not only reducing the ground plane newlinedimensions by a good margin, but also produces a high axial ratio bandwidth newlineby lowering the Q factor. One major contribution of the work is the analysis of newlinethe higher order modes and subsequent higher gain obtained. newline |
