Abstract: | This research intends to map the relationship between the prakriti of the professionals and their performance in the organization. This relationship lays its ground on the fact that as per ayurveda newlineevery individual has a unique Prakriti type which is defined on the basis of physical and mental newlinecharacteristics of the individual and these physical and mental characteristics influence newlineperformance. Exploring such a relationship will help organizations make decision relating to the newlinefit of an employee on the job. Recruitment and selection is one area where human resource newlinemanagement has to majorly concentrate because a best fit employee can only help the newlineorganization achieve competitive advantage and grow in the current dynamic environment. newlineMany managers and supervisors live under the mistaken impression that the level of employee newlineperformance on the job is proportional to the size of the employee s pay packet. Although this newlinemay be true in minority of cases, numerous employee surveys have shown by and large this to be newlineuntrue. In fact, salary increases and bonuses for performance, in many instances, have a very newlinelimited short-term effect. The extra money soon comes to be regarded not as an incentive but as newlinean entitlement . Data was collected from 330 respondents who were distributed across different newlineorganisations in the region of Valsad and nearby locations. These respondents were spread across newlinefive types of professionals; they were Engineering, Human Resources/ Marketing, Accounts/ newlineFinance, Research and Development and Quality. This study follows a causal research design. newlineThe two variables studied here were 1) Prakriti (i.e. personality as per ayurveda) and 2) newlinePerformance of the professionals. Prakriti of any individual is determined at the time of birth and newlineit remains the same throughout their life, this is the independent variable and performance is the newlinedependent variable .This is a study of relationship between these variables.
