Abstract: Aluminium (Al) and its alloys are extensively used for a large number of engineering apiarian in particular to automobile, aerospace and marine applications. In the recent past, extensive research work has been carried out on developing composite materials newlinethat exhibit unique mechanical properties. Al based metal matrix composites are an newlineemerging area where a large number of research work has been carried out. Various synthesizing techniques such as liquid metallurgy vortex route and powder metallurgy routes are used. In this context, various ceramic particles like Al2O3, AlN, TiO2, TiN etc. have been added to Al matrix to make Al based MMCs. In general, these Al based composites find numerous applications in the automobile sector. newline
