Abstract: The present work deals with the studies of some biological communities of two valley lakes of Kashmir viz Anchar a semi urban lake and Hokarsar a rural lake The newlinework was conducted from June 1983 May 1985 The physical features which have been dealt with in the present study are morphometry optics extension coefficient and thermal newlinebehaviour The investigation made on the chemical features include study on pH conductivity dissolved oxygen alkalinity chloride calcium magnesium silicate Ammonium nitrogen Nitrate nitrogen Phosphate phosphorus Total phosphorus and Iron The water chemistry was studied because it has a direct influence on the Biota of the water body During the present investigation it was seen that the fluctuation in the nutrients present in the water incorporated a turbulance in the aquatic biota newline
